Shouting Creates Distance

ONCE a professor asked his students: “Why do we shout in anger? Why do people shout at each other when they are upset?” The students thought for a while before one of them said: “We shout because we lose our calm.”

“But why shout when the other person is just next to you? Isn’t it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice?”

The students gave various answers, none of which satisfied the professor.

Finally he explained: “When two people are angry with each other, their hearts distance. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the louder they will have to shout to hear each other through that great distance.”

Then he asked: “What happens when two people fall in love? They don’t shout at each other but talk softly. Why? Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is very small.

“When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak – they only whisper and get closer to each other in their love.

“Finally they do not even need to whisper. They only look at each other, that’s all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.”

So, when you argue, do not let your hearts get distant or say words that distance each other even more, or there may come a day when the distance is so great you will not find the path back to each other.

Conversation between Pencil and Eraser

Photobucket

Pencil: I'm sorry

Eraser: For what? You didn't do anything wrong.

Pencil: I'm sorry cos you get hurt bcos of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.

Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad. :)

This conversation between the pencil and the eraser is very inspirational. Parents are the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They're always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way... they get hurt, and become smaller (older, and eventually pass on). Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.

"All my life, I've been the pencil.. And it pains me to see the eraser that is my parents getting smaller and smaller each day. For I know that one day, all that I'm left with would be eraser shavings and memories of what I used to have..."

This is to all the parents and children out there...

Oceans and Seas

Oceans and Seas cover 70% of the Earth's surface. They have a large influence on global climate and weather patterns and are also a major source of nutrition.

The degradation of the oceans and seas seriously threatens food security and the eradication of poverty round the world. There is so much work to be done to protect this wonderful environment.

We must stop treating the sea as a global garbage can and protect all its natural wonders.

More than one million species of plants and animals live in the seas and oceans. say there may be as many nine million undiscovered yet.

We need to save the seas and the oceans ad make the world a better place for all of us...for generations to come.

The roads in our life

We have to make a lot of decisions in our life...
It can be something as small as deciding what to eat for lunch, where to hangout on the weekend...
Or it can be something important like whether you should take a particular course, what type of job you should look for, when should you get married....

We are making more and more decision as time goes by...
There are times we wish that some of the decisions that we have made can be changed but we can't...
Sometimes we still try to change certain things that have been done although we know that there is almost nothing that we can do about it...
We will never be able to change the past, the only thing we can do is to learn from the decisions we have made...

Here is a more original version of "The Road Not Taken", you may want to watch it or you may not want to watch it... Haha... And the paragraphs below it is the full text of the poem...

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Think

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to win, but you think you can't,
It is almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost.
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow's will,
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are.
You've got to think high to rise,
You've got to be sure of yourself before,
You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can!

Adapted from a Song

Bless the man who made it

And pray that he is not dead

He could have made a million

If he had sold it to the feds

But he was hot for freedom

He gave it out for free

Now everyone can have it
