The Ultimate Good in the “Good News”

  • Salvation - is not good news if it only saves from hell and not for God

  • Forgiveness - is not good news if it only gives relief from guilt and doesn't open the way to God

  • Justification - is not good news if it only makes us acceptable to God but doesn't bring fellowship with God

  • Redemption - is not good news if it only liberates us from bondage but doesn't bring us to God.

  • Adoption - is not good news if it only put us in the father's family but not in His arms.

~ The ultimate good news is God Himself ~

Questions To Ask Before Praying

Before bringing a request to the Lord, ask:
If God granted this request...

Would it bring glory to Him?

Would it advance His Kingdom?

Would it help people?

Would it help me to grow spiritually?

Jesus and the Children

Some people brought little children to Jesus.
They wanted him to place his hands on the children and pray for them.

The disciples told the people to stop.
But Jesus asked the children to come to him.
"Let the little children come to me," he said.
"Don't keep them away. God's kingdom belongs to people like them."

Then he took the children in his arms.
He put his hands on them and blessed them.

Sharing 101

Principles
  1. Everything you have comes from God.

  2. Everything that is given to you is given in trust to you.

  3. The blessings that you have are not just for your own personal benefit.

  4. What is given to you is given that you might share it with others.

Give and Take

The more you give,
the more you get.

The more you love,
the less you fret.

The more you do unselfishly,
the more you live abundantly.

The more of everything you share,
the more you'll always have to spare.

The more you love,
the more you'll find that
life is good and friends are kind.

For only what we give away
enriches us from day to day.

The Walk of Love

The Walk of Love
releases others from your expectations.
You unconditionally set yourself to exhibit
Christ's love regardless of their actions.

The Walk of Love
is expressed in a servant spirit.
You look to channel your talents and energies
toward encouraging and stimulating others.

The Walk of Love
is sacrificial.
You are willing to give up your time
and even your ambition
for the sake of seeking first the kingdom of God.

Conversation between Pencil and Eraser

Photobucket

Pencil: I'm sorry

Eraser: For what? You didn't do anything wrong.

Pencil: I'm sorry cos you get hurt bcos of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.

Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad. :)

This conversation between the pencil and the eraser is very inspirational. Parents are the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They're always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way... they get hurt, and become smaller (older, and eventually pass on). Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.

"All my life, I've been the pencil.. And it pains me to see the eraser that is my parents getting smaller and smaller each day. For I know that one day, all that I'm left with would be eraser shavings and memories of what I used to have..."

This is to all the parents and children out there...

Jesus Teaches About Praying

Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down.
His disciples came to him.
Then he began to teach them.

He said, "This is how you should pray.
Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored.
May your kingdom come.
May what you want to happen be done on earth as it is done in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins, just as we also have forgiven those who sin against us.
Keep us from sin when we are tempted.
Save us from the evil one."

A Psalm for Giving Thanks

Shout to the Lord with joy, everyone on earth
Worship the Lord with gladness
Come to him with songs of joy

I want you to realize that the Lord is God
He made us, and we belong to him

We are his people
We are the sheep belonging to his flock

Give thanks as you enter the gates of his temple
Give praise as you enter its courtyards
Give thanks to him and praise his name

The Lord is good
His faithful love continues forever
It will last for all time to come

Fooling the Professor

Two college seniors had a week of exams coming up. However, they decided to party instead. So, when they went to the test, they decided to tell the professor that their car had broken down the night before due to a very flat tyre and they needed a bit more time to study.

The professor told them that they could have another day to study. That evening, both of the boys crammed all night until they were sure that they knew just about everything.

Arriving to class the next morning, each boy was told to go to separate classrooms to take the exam. Each shrugged and went to two different parts of the building. As each sat down, they read the first question.

"For 5 points, explain the contents of an atom."

At this point, they both thought that this was going to be a piece of cake, and answered the question with ease.

Then, the test continued... "For 95 points, tell me which tyre it was."

What Happens When We Pray

We Mature
We gain faith and grow in our understanding of Him.

We are Humbled
We are reminded that He is great and We are not;
He is holy and we are not;
He is all-wise and we are not.

We are Blessed
God meets the needs we have laid before Him.

When You Think of Heaven...

Think of...

Stepping on shore, and finding it heaven!

Taking hold of a hand, and find it God's hand.

Breathing a new, and finding it celestial air.

Feeding invigorated, and finding it immortality.

Passing from storm to tempest to an unbroken calm.

Waking up, and finding it home.

10 Lies about Sin

  1. Sin is no big deal.

  2. A little sin won't hurt.

  3. Taking radical action against sin isn't necessary.

  4. God won't mind a little compromise.

  5. It's my body; I can do what I want with it.

  6. I can control my drives.

  7. I won't experience any consequences for my sin.

  8. God is keeping something good from me.

  9. The pleasure sin promises is better and more real than God's pleasure.

  10. Fulfilling my sin will satisfy me.

Where is God?

When the sky is dark, He is there.

When you are all alone, He is there.

When nothing goes your way, He is there.

When you are in pain, He is there.

When people are against you, He is there.

When you are frightened or worried, He is there.

When those you love are in crisis, He is there.

When you feel as if God is far away, He is there.

When doubt and confusion weigh you down, He is there.

When you are about to breathe your last, He is there.

And where God is, there is always hope.

The Values of Health

When a person lives in the disease,
he will know that health is precious.

When a person is from the brink of death,
he knew the gift of life.

Everyone may have the wealth,
but not everyone is healthy all the time.

Wealth is not everything in our life,
but without healthy life,
we get nothing.

Trust in God

There are times, that we may feel trusting God when nothing seems to happen is difficult. But it is harder still to live with the consequences of taking matters into our own hands. Therefore, we should resist the temptation to think God has forgotten you. We need to have the patience and courage to wait for God to act.

Trust in the Lord, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.

A Point on Help

Lets talk about help...

How often do you help the people around you?
How often do you help your family members?
How often do you help your friends?
How often do you help strangers?

Who have you been helping?
What have you been helping?
Where have you been helping?
How have you been helping?
Why have you been helping?

Okay, lets stop asking questions and get to my point of this post...

In life, there would be times that you really want to help someone.
But you found out that there is not much that you can do about it.
How will you feel?

As for myself, I would be feeling in a way that I wish I could really help.
Well, of cause I can at least try to provide some sort of support.
But I really wish that I could actually help.
I believe some of you that are reading this blog would have a similar feeling.
